Library is the heart of any educational institution. The library of the college is adequately equipped to quench the thirst of knowledge of not only students and faculties of this institution but also academicians, research scholars, faculties from other institutes as well as enthusiastic life-long learners from the community. It is an abode of more than 10,000 books, 3 printed journals, 01 online journal, and various periodicals with a view to make the trainee teachers aware of various career opportunities available for them. The library has working computers with internet connection for the students to use for their studies. Moreover, the spacious reading room for teachers and students offers ample scope for self-learning.

Monday - Friday 10:30 a.m to 5.30 p.m
Saturday 10:30 a.m to 3p.m
Circulation & Reading Room Timings
Monday - Friday 11 am to 5 pm
Saturday 11 am to 3pm
Library Rules

Every person who enters the library shall sign the Gate Register.

Silence shall be strictly observed in the library.

Mobile phones must be switched off or silence mode before entering the library.

Smoking and Spiting are strictly prohibited.

No person shall write upon, damage or make any mark upon any book, Journal and other property belonging to the library.

No tracing or mechanical reproduction shall be made without the permission of the Authority.

The reader shall remain responsible for any loss and damage done to the books taken on loan or consultation and shall be held responsible for the replacement of the book or to pay the value thereof.

Returned books must be delivered at the proper desk or counter in the library.

Doing anything else which may be against the discipline of the library is strictly prohibited.
Loan Privilege
The following are entitled to take out books on loan on their enrolment as Members:

Teachers of this Institution (S T T College, Purulia)
-
Student of this Institution (S T T College, Purulia)
-
Other Staff of Sponsored Teachers' Training College.

Enrolment Form is available free of cost at the counter for student only.

Each Student member is given 2 Lending Cards and 1 Reference card. Teachers & other staff are given Pass Book for borrowing books.

Only registered members shall have the right of access to the library for the purpose of borrowing books.

The time allowed for retaining a book is as follows:

Teachers for 3 months.

Non-teaching Staffs for 1 Month.

Students for 15 days.

If a book is not returned at the library after due date, an overdue charge of Rs.5/- per volume per day be levied.

Loan may be renewed for a further period after expiry date, if no other member has applied for the book in the meantime. Not more than three consecutive renewals shall be allowed for the same book.

Journals, Reports, Proceedings, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Year Books, Directories etc which should be difficult to replace and such other works which as may be declared 'Reference Books' by the Library Authority shall not be lent out.

A member who has lost a Borrower's card / Pass Book shall make a written report of the same immediately to the Library Authority. If the Card / Pass Book is not traced within a period of two weeks, a duplicate Card will be issued on receipt of the indemnity bond from the member and a fee of Rs. 50/- only.

The Library Authority may recall any book from any member at any time.
Condition of Loan
Students

Each student member may borrow 2 books at a time, by producing the card at the library issue counter. One card entitles the holder to borrow one book at a time.

No book will be issued from the library unless the card is presented.

The Library Authority will retain this card till the book borrowed from the Library is returned.

The Library Card are not transferable and must be returned at the end of the session.

Before leaving the counter, the member shall satisfy himself / herself as to whether the publication issued to him / her is in sound condition and if not, he/she shall immediately bring the matter to the notice of Library Authority, otherwise he/she is liable to be held responsible for the replacement.

A member shall not be allowed to borrow books or withdraw his/her Library Clearance until he/she returns the books issued.
Teachers

Maximum 10 books at a time per teacher, 5 books at a time per SACT and 2 books per other staff may be issued by producing the pass issued.

Teachers, SACT and other staff shall satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing. Otherwise they shall be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning.
Lending Service
All Library members (Students, Teachers, SACT and Non-teaching Staff) may borrow book(s) from the library.
Reference service
This type of service is given to the members throughout the library hours.
Reading room
Student can take maximum 2 books at a time for reading through their Library card. There is also a separate reading room for the teachers in the library.
Sitting Capacity: For student - 30 persons and for teachers- 06 persons.
Internet
Library has internet facilities. Members of the Library may use the computer for browsing the world-wide information in his/her specific topic through e-learning centre.
